The Ironman training is dependent on the following factors. These factors help you determine the right time to start the Ironman journey.

1.   Fitness:

Before you plan to start your Ironman journey, you should keep in mind your form. If you are physically fit and is in good shape, you can begin your journey at a glance.

How much time do you need to commit?

A typical course plan runs for about 24 – 30 weeks. For the initial 6 to 10 weeks, you would have to work around 8 to 10 hours per week. The rest of the time you would have to work for 12 to 15 hours per week.

However, in the last weeks of training, you might need to commit 16+ hours of training, as the race approaches. Though, it is dependent on what you have chosen.

1.   Athletic Experience:

Do you know you will enjoy the Ironman training experience even more if you have an endurance-based sports background? Yes, you heard it right!

The Ironman training will take charge of both your body and mind. As you might have heard experienced trainers saying, “The race day is not the main challenge; the challenge is the Ironman Training.”

Although every athlete has a unique circumstance and training experience of the Ironman training, one thing that is common among them is they found it worth it!

Undoubtedly, Ironman training is expensive training. So if you want to participate in the Ironman journey, you would for sure need to have extensive Ironman training.

So before you decide to start your Ironman journey, you must make a complete checklist of all the expenditures it has, including:

  • Food
  • Training costs
  • Race fees
  • Training plan
  • Expenses of hiring a coach.
